NORTH CAROLINA CONCEALED PERMIT RECIPROCITY PASSES!!!
On June 14, 2003, Governor Mike Easley signed into law a new bill granting concealed handgun permit reciprocity to any other state that grants North Carolina residents either: the ability to get a non-resident permit in that state, or that state grants carry with a NC permit. This law takes effect sixty (60) days after it was signed (by my guess August 14, 2003).

Examples Of Armed Citizens Coming To The Aid Of Officers In Peril
There is NO evidence to support the assertion that law enforcement officers are put at risk by law-abiding citizens carrying concealed firearms in their car. There are no studies, even ones with twisted statistics, that draw this conclusion. How can that be? Because there is NO record of a law enforcement officers having been injured by a CCW permit holder during a traffic stop, anywhere in the 44 CCW states.

We can, on the other hand, offer numerous examples of armed citizens coming to the aid of officers in peril. more...

Senate passes firearms bill HB 97
35-0; House OKs it 86-9
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Lawmakers yesterday approved a final version of a bill that critics said would loosen the state's concealed-weapons law and hamper a state crackdown on rogue firearms instructors. But the sponsor of House Bill 97, Rep. Bob Damron, D-Nicholasville, brushed off such concerns yesterday. He said his bill actually will make the law tougher by making it illegal to falsify firearms-safety-training records for those seeking permits to carry concealed weapons.

6 indicted over gun permit classes
3 instructors face mail-fraud charges
Up to 3,000 Kentuckians got permits to carry concealed deadly weapons without taking the required training because instructors issued fraudulent paperwork, state and federal officials announced yesterday. In return for a fee of up to $75, the instructors certified that people had completed training when they hadn't, according to federal indictments.

Ban on concealed guns stands Judge's order halted on appeal
Within hours of a Hamilton County judge's decision Thursday that Ohio's ban on concealed weapons is unconstitutional, an appeals court temporarily halted his order for police to stop arresting law-abiding citizens with hidden firearms.

Tighter security means big changes for state Capitol visitors
People heading to Frankfort over the next three months to watch Kentucky legislators hash out laws and debate policy had better get there early. Security measures instituted since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks will change what formerly was easy access. ''A lot of us think it is overkill. I don't think there are really any terrorists who are looking at causing havoc in the state of Kentucky,'' said Sen. Tom Buford, R-Nicholasville. ''And any terrorist who knows anything about Kentucky would know that we (lawmakers) can cause more than enough terror on our own.

Concealed guns afford self defense
Director Melissa Allison Sets Straight the Kentucky Post
I have rationally gone over the facts and realized that gun carriers are no more violent than any other normal citizen of the United States. They have simply chosen to protect themselves instead of being a victim. Why should we not have the right to defend ourselves against those who threaten us and our families? more...

From a Woman’s Perspective
Melissa Allison, Director KC3
I will admit it right from the start; I am a new gun owner. Less than a year ago I would have been more likely to be a member of the Million Mom March than a board member of the Kentucky Coalition to Carry Concealed. However, as the saying goes, "Times change" and so have my views of guns and gun ownership. I now understand the value of protecting the right to carry concealed weapons. more...

2. Washington DC's low murder rate of 69 per 100,000 is due to strict gun control, and Indianapolis' high murder rate of 9 per 100,000 is due to the lack of gun control. more...

Crime Jumps in California except in one county. There is one county in California where crime is not increasing. In this particular county there has, in fact, been a 29 percent decrease in violent crime in the past year! That county would be Orange County Santa Ana, Disneyland, Newport Beach, etc. Why?
