KC3 at First-Ever National Night Out

KC3 participated in the first-ever National Night Out event held in Frankfort, Ky. by the Franklin County Crime Commission this weekend, Saturday, Sept. 8th, and it was a success for all concerned.

Speaking with tired but happy NNO organizer Tonya Hartley after things were wrapping up, she said that there were even more kids and adults than they had hoped for, and that they considered their inaugural a distinct success. She was also most appreciative of KC3's participation and promised to contact us for planning for next year's event.

KC3 Board members Melissa and Tyler Allison, Bob Jaynes and Shelby and Charles Riggs were there passing out Eddie Eagle brochures, coloring books, stickers and posters to the hundreds of kids and their parents who attended. We had a TV set up playing the Eddie Eagle gun safety video, and answered questions from parents on how to get this valuable info and program for their schools and kids.

We also had pages from our web site on view on a laptop computer for the adults to see, and were passing out KC3 Newsletters to those adults who displayed an interest in our organization.

We're well pleased with our initial foray into this activity and are anxious to do more like this in future. It's vital that we dispel public misconceptions about gun ownership, and help to make future generations gun-safe. Events like NNO, using the Eddie Eagle program, are just the thing to accomplish this!

If any KC3 members would like to provide Eddie Eagle materials to their local schools or civic organizations to further this effort, or would like to coordinate such an event, please contact us via email from our web page, or by phone at (502) 223-8360.
